We will be meeting at the studio of Chris and Stacey Kelly, owners, operators and artisans of F.K. Art Glass at 7:00. A map is available through their website at http://fkartglass.com/gallery/?page_id=4 under the events page.
Stacy and Christopher bring together divergent educational backgrounds and combine the skills and knowledge of each into their glass forms. Stacy from the graphic design and construction fields, Christopher from a chemical/mechanical engineering standpoint.
They began their art career on the Nationally Juried Art Fair circuit. Though now known for their architectural installations, they continue to create smaller stand alone pieces. They feel strongly that everyone should have the opportunity to own a piece of art.
Much of their work relies on the dichotomy of weight and fracture resistance versus the commonly perceived lightness and fragility of glass. Heavy additions of glass to their pieces render both optical and measurable depth, allowing color as well as surface design to be placed deeply in each piece. This grants great visual delicacy and interest in a dense and shock
resistant form.
